Dentra's Commitment to Patient Privacy and Data Security

  • Protecting personal health information (PHI) is a top priority at Dentra. We employ industry best practices to ensure that the data our clients submit remains private and secure.
  • All Dentra clients sign a HIPAA agreement that outlines their responsibilities and Dentra’s responsibilities in regards to working with PHI, and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Dentra houses data containing ePHI in a SAS 70 Type 2-certified data center.*
  • We utilize SSL-encrypted data transfers to ensure security and privacy.**
  • Dentra employs security in depth throughout the company to put forth a solid effort towards decreasing its vulnerability plain.
  • At Dentra, security training and updates are ongoing as efforts towards a secure, reliable infrastructure must adapt as rapidly as threat vectors change.
  • We maintain a combination of internal policies and network security measures to ensure data security.
  • Dentra adheres to hierarchical rights management that limits access to data containing PHI to only Dentra employees who need to know.
  • We aggregate PHI into larger categories to ensure patients cannot be identified in our products and services.
  • Dentra only shares PHI back to the submitting customer in select cases, e.g. in the form of patient lists, or if the patient has asked to be identified to the provider as may be the case in PatSat™ patient surveys.
  • We engage in regular internal security reviews, and constantly seek to improve internal processes and procedures.
  • Dentra undergoes periodic HIPAA compliance audits conducted by an outside agency.
  • Our dedicated Chief Security Officer is responsible for implementing and enforcing security best practices.

At Dentra, we are committed to advancing quality measurement in dentistry to provide insight on patient experience and outcomes. As this requires collecting and warehousing patient-level data, we are also committed to being a careful, proactive steward of this information.
